Sophia Lo

Yamaha Young Performing Artist Chin-Li Sophia Lo works to craft a complete musical experience on the stage as a solo percussionist. Currently based in Denton,TX, Lo has performed concerts in Dvorak Hall, Slovak Radio Hall, Bela Bartok National Concert Hall, as well as music festivals around the globe such as Percussion Meets Identity (Austria), the Beta Percussion International Institute, the International Katarzyna Mycka Marimba Academy, the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, and the Zeltsman Marimba Festival. Lo is an award winning veteran of high profile solo competitions like Great Plains International, Mid-Missouri Percussive Arts Trophy, and the PAS California Chapter Marimba competition. 

In addition to her performance career, she is a passionate educator and presents masterclasses at schools in Oregon, California, and in Texas, where she maintains a private studio. Lo is a doctoral candidate and graduate teaching fellow at the University of North Texas where she collaborates in unique interdisciplinary performances with her colleagues.
